Benjamin Asher – State Championship-Dramatic Interpretation

Benjamin Taioalo Asher is a senior at Livingston High School who will be attending American University this fall as a journalism major. Ben has had a passion for performing from a young age. He credits his sixth grade English teacher Ken Schwartz for inspiring him to perform and is grateful to have found forensics as his outlet. This June, he looks to continue his success at the NSDA National Tournament in Fort Lauderdale for Dramatic Interpretation. Outside of performing, he enjoys practicing the guitar, watching the Philadelphia Eagles, and trying any and all kinds of ice cream. Additionally, he has dedicated himself to serving others as a regular volunteer at 7th Street Soup Bistro at Memorial West Presbyterian Church in Newark. Some of his role models include Barack Obama, Dwayne Johnson, Colin Kaepernick, and Lenny Bruce. Ben would like to thank his Mama for teaching him to believe in love and most importantly, himself.
