American Attitudes Toward Music: 2003 Gallup Poll
The Gallup Organization
April-21-03
Once again, the Gallup Poll reports that Americans love music and strongly support its presence in our culture—and especially our schools. The majority of Americans believe participating in music increases performance in other academic subjects and helps teach children discipline. Nine out of ten Americans agree that music is part of a well-rounded education and three quarters of those surveyed feel that schools should mandate music education.
