Illinois Arts Alliance
September-01-04
This study was conducted to develop a comprehensive strategy that ensures every Illinois student has an education that includes the arts. The policies of ten states with substantive arts education programs were analyzed to determine how their efforts were initiated, advanced and implemented. The states include: California, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wisconsin. The authors summarize the states' policies and offer recommendations from grassroots lobbying to public awareness campaigns to funding options.
