YouthARTS Development Project & Toolkit
Americans for the Arts
January-01-01
The YouthARTS Development Project, a research initiative of the U.S. Department of Justice, offered arts opportunities to youth at risk in three cities and found decreased delinquent behavior and improved cooperation and attitudes about school. In collaboration with national arts organizations and local arts agencies, the initiative ran in Atlanta, Portland, and San Antonio gathering objective evidence for reducing the risk of juvenile delinquency. The model has been adapted by Americans for the Arts into a user-friendly and comprehensive toolkit for widespread implementation.
