Karlena Marrero (Gloucester County Institute of Technology Drama Class of 2018) is honored to be receiving the Governor’s Award. In 2016, she was inducted in the National Honor Society, along with being elected as choreographer as a part of the executive board for Thespian Troupe 5480. At the 2017 NJ Thespian Festival, Karlena was a part of the
Chapter Select Caged Birds and won first place which qualified them to be honored and able to perform at the International Thespian Festival. Most recently, performed in Urinetown, the Musical and received Best Featured Ensemble from the Papermill Playhouse Rising Star Awards. Karlena has participated four years on the cheerleading squad, the team successfully won 2 years at the NJ Technical School cheerleading competition. Outside of school, she volunteers her time at the Broadway Theatre of Pitman where you may also catch her on stage. Future aim after graduating high school is
to attend college and study theatre arts, while working towards her goal to employ her acting proficiencies. Yet, the ultimate goal of having a successful career on Broadway!
