I experience emotions very intensely; my empathy has its own environment in my mind. With this, my pieces are meant to show small glimpses into this internal universe, a place where I exist alone even when I’m physically surrounded by others. The majority of my work is portraits. This is because human faces can communicate more emotion than any long explanation ever could. A single look into a person’s eyes is what sometimes reveals parts of that internal universe. Through my paintings and photography, each photo, specifically each portrait I create, represents a feeling I have had, even when someone else is modeling it. Using different people to portray the emotions that feel uniquely mine makes the pieces both more personal and more universal. Ultimately, I want each viewer to have their own individual interpretation of my work. I hope that while my work comes from the idea of isolation, others will see parts of themselves reflected in it.
