Breana Sena is a senior in the Class of 2018 at McNair Academic High School in Jersey City, NJ. Breana participates in the William Paterson University’s Annual Foreign Language Poetry Contest, where she won 3rdplace in the Intermediate category and 1stplace in Advanced (Spanish). She represents New Jersey at the Poetry Out Loud (POL) National 2018 Finals, to be held April 23-25thin Washington, D.C. This is Miss Sena’s second year participating in POL, first being named NJ runner-up, now taking the NJ Champion title. This will be her first appearance at Nationals. Breana recently received a Proclamation from Mayor Steve Fulop for her work with Poetry Out Loud. While in high school, Breana was active in JV Softball, JROTC, Black Diaspora Club, and Public and International Affairs Debate Club. She continues her passion for dance, training with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in the Junior Division for 10 years and Summer Intensives at the Joffrey Ballet for the past five years. She teaches over a hundred children ages 5 to 12 dance at a church summer camp. Breana is an aspiring lawyer and will go to study political science at NYU.
