Maeve Merzena is a member of Hopewell Valley Central High School’s class of 2019 and the National Honor Society. As a member of the HVCHS Spanish Club, she aided hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico. Maeve is a member of the HVCHS Shakespeare Club and performed in the annual Shakespeare Festival at Rider University. As a member of the HVCHS Performing Arts Academy and Thespian Troupe 7964, she enjoys performing in school plays and musicals. Maeve won a school award for outstanding achievement in performing arts, six thespian state awards at NJ Thespian Festival, and a Montclair State University Outstanding Achievement by an Acting Ensemble of a Comedy award. Maeve is a member of the Leadership Corp at her school, leading outreaches for the underclassmen, and teaching lessons on various topics concerning high school life. She has been dancing for 15 years at her studio and performed in NY Knick’s, 76ers, NJ Devils, and Harlem Globetrotter games. Maeve was a NY Times 2017 Summer Reading Contest winner. She loves singing with her voice teacher, spending time with family and friends, and has had the privilege of traveling to 5 continents, including Antarctica.
She is also a part of her High School’s Thespian Troupe, troupe 7964, and competed in the 2018 Tech Olympics. She has loved working in both the High School and Middle School theater programs and is very grateful for the experiences she has had there.
