We have seen a major decline in people interested in becoming musicians and a decline in musicians auditioning for honors ensembles. This is especially evident in my school and district, where our marching band once won USBands Nationals IV and consistently received high placements in competitions along with superior ratings for our skills. However, after Covid, we experienced a decline in new members and a loss of passion for something most of us truly love. I believe it’s crucial to share the benefits and joy of the arts and music to inspire people to continue pursuing these passions, strive for excellence, and discover what music and the arts can truly offer.
