The Arts Ed NJ Youth Arts Ed Council changed my life. Going into it, I was nervous, scared I wouldn’t make it, worried I wouldn’t get anywhere. But the council showed me there was so much more to me, that I could achieve my dreams without that constant worry holding me back.

When I applied, I didn’t think much of it. Then I found out I got in, and I was so happy. I vividly remember dancing with my mom in the kitchen, having a whole mini party when we got the news.

At the time, I didn’t know how life-changing it would be. I remember joining my first meeting, making sure I looked professional, that my hair was done, my makeup was done, that I had nice clothes on. I was so nervous. But when I joined, something clicked. I felt like I was meant to be there, like I was on the right track. There isn’t a single thing I regret from that day.

From that moment on, I realized this was where I belonged. By the end of the program, I had never felt so ready for anything life threw at me, so ready to be who I am, to follow my dreams, and to never look back.
