Arts Ed NJ Professional Learning offers a variety of learning opportunities, featuring topics that can assist educators, teaching artists, administrators, school board members, and creative leadership teams to extend the impact of the arts in education. Offered January-December
In this workshop, educators will explore examples and tools to support social emotional learning (SEL) in ways that are embedded, intentional, and sustained. Participants will make direct connections between the four artistic processes and the five social emotional competencies through the Arts Education & Social Emotional Learning Framework and reflect upon practices for building classroom culture where artistic-SEL is a priority and every student will flourish. This workshop is effective for K-12 educators from all arts disciplines, as well as non-arts educators who are seeking to make interdisciplinary connections.

In this highly interactive workshop, participants will explore the 2020 NJ Learning Standards in the Visual and performing Arts through new lenses. These new perspectives include understanding the four Artistic processes and the five social emotional competencies, making natural connections through the Arts Education & Social Emotional Learning Framework. This workshop is ideal for all K-12 arts educators and anyone responsible for ensuring the arts standards are taught with fidelity and in a manner that advances student identity, agency, and belonging.
In-person (this is a multi-part series, full-day or half-day Format)

Arts integration is an effective strategy for cultivating positive climate and culture, as well as deepening student engagement. Sessions will immerse participants in the fundamental components of high-quality arts integration and arts-enhanced teacher practice. In each highly participatory session, the knowledge and skills needed to move confidently from planning to implementation will be explored. Drawing upon New Jersey’s Arts Integration Think and Do Workbook, participants will identify realistic goals and develop concrete actions steps to guide their arts integration work. This series is for all arts disciplines, PreK-12 educators. Teams/groups should include at least one arts educator and one non-arts educator.

The Culturally Responsive Arts Education (CRAE) Workout is an eight-week curated asynchronous and synchronous experience that focuses on developing the capacity of educators and administrators to think about how culturally relevant and responsive approaches can shift curriculum, instructional content, and teaching practices to more effectively represent and validate all students’ cultures and lived experiences.

Embracing the Arts: A Pathway to Well-Rounded Education was part of the 2018 Arts Education Series co-sponsored by Arts Ed NJ and the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association. During this day of professional learning, administrators and teacher leaders explored how the arts, as a core curricular area, are a meaningful component of the Every Student Succeeds Act.
