As we move through the holiday season, now more than ever, it’s important to take the time to rest and reset. We’re all feeling the drain of these past (almost) two years. It’s taken a toll on our physical, mental, and emotional well being. But, instead of dwelling on the past (and present), we need to shift our focus to give ourselves the space for a reset and a more positive outlook.
Opening up this space will assist you in carving out time for self-care. And remember, self-care is not selfish. It is necessary. I implore you to make self care a consistent part of your new year! Here I offer you some suggestions for practicing “The 12 Days of Reset.” Feel free to swap out suggestions in order to tailor it to your needs and wants.
- On the first day of reset, I offered to myself – quiet time to just sit and breathe.
- On the second day of reset, I offered to myself – walk outside for air.
- On the third day of reset, I offered to myself – what is my purpose (or passion)?
- On the fourth day of reset, I offered to myself – practice my craft (play your instrument, dance, create some artwork, or recite your favorite monologue!).
- On the fifth day of reset, I offered to myself – a social media break.
- On the sixth day of reset, I offered to myself – healthy snacks and meals.
- On the seventh day of reset, I offered to myself – read a good book for you.
- On the eighth day of reset, I offered to myself – get plenty of sleep.
- On the ninth day of reset, I offered to myself – practice gratitude.
- On the tenth day of reset, I offered to myself – listen to happy music.
- On the eleventh day of reset, I offered to myself – spend time with friends and family.
- On the twelfth day of reset, I offered to myself – (remember) it’s okay to say no.
